Run for 57th AHC
Run for 57th AHC began in 2015. Saturday, November 6, 2021 will mark the 7th Annual Run for 57th AHC held at the Possum Kingdom Chamber of Commerce located on beautiful Possum Kingdom Lake, TX. Since inception over $80,000 has been raised and donated to the following Veterans' Non-profit Organiations: The National Vietnam War Museum, Courage Beyond, Homes for Heros, Folds of Honor, Operation Homefront, Heroes Outdoor Therapy and this year proudly K9s for Warriors.
Known by the call sign "Gladiator" or "Cougar" (gunships), the 57th AHC was based in Kontum, Pleiku and An Khe in the Central Vietnam Highlands during the Vietnam War. Aircrews flew the iconic UH-1 Huey helicopter in support of 5th Special Forces and other US and Vietnamese combat units.
Years after the war ended the 57th was revealed to be a key player in the then top secret Special Forces clandestine missions that occurred in enemy occupied Laos and Cambodia. Helicopter crews inserted and extracted highly skilled Special Forces teams in extremely remote jungles more than often under intense enemy fire. During that period our Government disavowed any operations in either Laos and Cambodia (a "Mission Impossible" approach if you will). To learn more , please read John Plaster's bestselling book "SOG: The Secret Wars of America's Commandos in Vietnam". The 57th AHC actions are mentioned often in his book and others.

K9s' Mission: K9s For Warriors is ending veteran suicide and returning our Warriors to a life of dignity and independence. We rescue and train shelter dogs to be paired as Service Dogs for Warriors with service-connected Post-Traumatic Stress, Traumatic Brain Injury and/or Military Sexual Trauma.
Your donation will make a difference in the life of a Warrior and rescue dog!
