K9s For Warriors Community Events

In Memory of Eric LeClair - #ItsNotAboutYou

Dear Friends,

As we approach Eric’s 45th birthday, as well as the first anniversary of his passing, the time has come to honor him in a way that would make him proud.

Eric supported K9s For Warriors wholeheartedly. It was, and still is for so many of us, our go-to veteran organization. K9s For Warriors offers veterans a new outlook on life through the companionship of a dog. The program is free to veterans diagnosed with PTSD, TBI, and MST, but the cost of obtaining a pup for the organization is $25k.

Hope, however, is priceless.

Harlee wasn’t an official K9 service dog, but what she did for Eric through the 9 years of her life showed us firsthand, what the power of a K9 friendship can do (and did!) for a veteran suffering from PTSD.

Appropriately, our goal is to sponsor a pup for a veteran fighting their way through the chaos.

Grief is a place that no one knows until they arrive. It sucks. Although Eric’s passing is still so new, we can start to move our energy into a place of healing. Let’s show Eric and our veteran community that we appreciate them and that we truly thank them for their service.

This one’s for Eric, and Harlee too.

K9s For Warriors is the nation’s largest veteran service organization providing highly skilled service dogs to our disabled American heroes. Our goal is to empower warriors to return to life with dignity and independence. Preventing suicide attempts and suicidal ideation is our number one objective. That's why the core of our training is focused on mitigating the symptoms associated with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and Military Sexual Trauma (MST).

Determined to end veteran suicide, K9s For Warriors provides highly-trained Service Dogs to military veterans suffering from PTSD, traumatic brain injury and/or military sexual trauma. With the majority of dogs coming from high-kill rescue shelters, this innovative program allows the K9/Warrior team to build an unwavering bond that facilitates their collective healing and recovery.
