K9s For Warriors Community Events

11th Annual Christmas Sweater Party

Welcome to the 11th Annual Christmas Sweater Party event Page!

This is truly my favorite event all year because I feel that I am blessed with the best freinds in the world and to have them all in one room is very special to me. If it is your first time attending or if you've attended every year...WELCOME!

I am proud to have K9s For Warriors as our fundaraising and charity effort again this year. Determined to end veteran suicide, K9s For Warriors provides highly-trained Service Dogs to military veterans suffering from PTSD, traumatic brain injury and/or military sexual trauma. With the majority of dogs coming from high-kill rescue shelters, this innovative program allows the K9/Warrior team to build an unwavering bond that facilitates their collective healing and recovery.

I had the please of touring both of their campuses in Ponte Vedra, FL back in November with Community Relations Manager, Steph Vogt.  The facilities, staff and environment is truly incredible and one of a kind.  Everything they do is for the Veterans and I was fortuante to meet a few of the trainers, veterans and dogs themselves.  Overall it has me very excited to support their efforts and cause again this year.

A statement from Steph Vogt at K9s Dor Warriors:
Our Warriors come from all over the country to attend our three-week in-house program at no cost to them. We have a class each month stay with us at our main campus in Ponte Vedra, FL and also at our Warrior housing in Helotes, TX, an extension of our San Antonio campus. Our Service Dogs, the majority of which are rescues, are trained here by our team of Dog Trainers. On the Warriors’ first full day with us they meet their pre-trained Service Dog and begin their bonding and three-week journey of recovery by training daily together. Warrior and Service Dog are together 24/7. The class leaves campus daily with our Warrior Trainers who help train the class on how to work with their Service Dog and implement specific commands. They train at public locations including parks and department stores including lunch in restaurants which helps maximize training. The goal is for the Warrior to be able to return home ready to ease back into society with pride and less anxiety. Many of our Warriors come here on multiple medications and are eventually able to minimize or eliminate their medication intake. Warriors through our program will have the benefit of a Service Dog for life. We have currently graduated over 800 Warriors and saved over 1,500 dogs!

Last year we raised $3,200 which will covered the groceries for 2 veteran classes during their 3 week training with the paired dog. Please consider helping meet this goal!  This year I'm hoping we can raise 5,000 to support over 4 veteran clases during their 3 week training and pairing with their support dogs.

Thank you in advance for your donations and MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Will
